Melinda Downey

Melinda DowneyMelinda Downey is currently a Procurement Officer for the International Rescue Committee (IRC), where she has worked since April 2006. In this role, she is responsible for managing travel-related procurement throughout the organization as well as maintaining good relations with our agents and vendors. Previous to this position, she served as the Office Manager for the Information Technology Department at the IRC where she performed administrative, financial, and logistical support. Ms. Downey has also worked for the International League for Human Rights as an Administrative Officer where she oversaw the accounting functions of the organization, worked closely with external accounting firm in preparing annual audits and tax forms, created and managed systems for filing grant documentation and submitting reports, created and coordinated an internship program, facilitated board communications and meetings and handled with day to day administration. Prior to these roles, Ms. Downey served as Office Manager for several non-profits, including New Politics, Public Health Association of NYC and interned for the New York Chapter of Physicians for a National Health Program. Ms. Downey holds B.A. degrees in Political Science and International Relations from Marymount Manhattan College, New York.
